At the end of the work week, my good friend Ivan came up with the idea for a song, along with its lyrics, in our corporate chat. And since the Monday after that weekend was to be our professional holiday - Programmer’s Day - I couldn’t pass it by: I unpacked the guitar, recorded a backing track, and then asked my friend Artyom to record the vocals. And here is what came out of it. Soundcloud:
HTML5:
I sit and take code from someone else’s git,
And I don’t see a single familiar line.
I wandered all over Google, there and back,
And returned, unable to piece the chunks together. But if there’s a pack of utilities on the disk,
Then things are not so bad for today’s build.
If you and I can put a release together for production,
Then our team lead’s head doesn’t hurt. And no one wanted the server to glitch on us,
And no one wanted to release crap code to production,
Without refactoring, production will be utter mayhem,
We refactor with you before the release to production. And if there’s a pack of utilities on the disk,
Then everything is just fine for today’s build.
So we can put a release together for production with you,
And our team lead’s head doesn’t hurt.
